Hiding of scenes when updating another scene

I find when I am editing a scene that once it opens the box obscures numerous scenes nearby, where i may wish to link a choice to another scene. I am forced to move the scene off to the write. I then lose my place and must open numerous others scenes to remember where I was. The link lines also disappear and do not reappear until I bring some of the scenes back in focus. Does a technique exist to minimize this "hiding" of boxes behind a currently open scene?
